PEACH IN GREECE
Today peach in Greek is called RODAKINO. Almost 90% of the Greek peach production which consists of: 1) table peaches, 2) nectarines 3) industrial production and is produced in the northern part of Greece in Macedonia. The two dominant areas are the vicinities of Imathia and Pella.
The vicinity of Imathia is producing 47%~50% of the total Greek production. Together with the vicinity of Pella they cover 90% of the total Greek production. In the vicinity of Imathia the production capacity of table peaches is about 80.000 ton., 145.000 ton. for industrial use and 38.000 ton of nectarines. The major peach variety in the vicinity of Imathia are: PEACH VARIETY CROP PERIODFORTUNA: 15/7 - 28/7 - LOADEL: 18/7-30/7 - ANDROS: 28/7-18/8 - EVERTS : 18/8-5/9
